StudyMate® Download

StudyMate®, from the makers of Respondus®, is an authoring software that allows you to create a variety of interactive activities and games from quiz questions. The activities are saved as Flash-type files that load quickly into your courses. StudyMate can import content from Word (.doc) files, and also from Respondus (.rsp) files. Although StudyMate and Respondus are compatible programs, they can be used separately: You do not need to know one to use the other.

CCCOnline purchases an annual site license for StudyMate, and faculty wishing to obtain a copy of StudyMate can do so by emailing David.Chatham@cccs.edu. David will send you the URL from which you can download the StudyMate zip file. The file will need to be unzipped with a utility like Winzip or Freezip. Save the file on your hard drive and double-click it to start the StudyMate installation program. During the installation process of the StudyMateCampus, you will be asked to enter the name of the institution, the local support contact, and the installation password. The information must be entered exactly as it is sent to you.

We recommend that you accept the default settings for where the program is installed.

Context-sensitive help is available throughout the StudyMate program by pressing the F1 key. It is also available by selecting “Help” from the pull-down menu on the toolbar. You have also downloaded a copy of the StudyMate User Guide (in Word/WordPad format). If you have questions or problems using the StudyMate software, you should first consult the online help or StudyMate User Guide. Please note:

1. You are not able to download the software directly from the Respondus website, nor are you able to use the password to activate a copy previously downloaded from their site.
2. Our license with Respondus, Inc. does NOT permit instructors to obtain support directly from Respondus, Inc. If our staff is unable to solve a particular question or problem, we will contact Respondus, Inc. on your behalf.
3. Our license DOES permit you to install a copy of the StudyMate software on a home computer. However, please note that you are not permitted to provide the StudyMate software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus and is also illegal.
