Faculty Handbook

Q

Quality-Assurance and Faculty Gold

For full documentation on the CCCOnline Quality Assurance (QA) program please see the QA document located on our web site. The program encompasses several levels of quality assessment involving students, faculty, program chairs, the academic dean, and the QA reviewer.

Every term each course is evaluated based on a series of quality indicators:
• Accurate syllabus and schedule page with current dates.
• Instructor participation in threaded discussion
• Regular announcements to the class.
• Use of the WebCT gradebook.
• Student evaluation of the faculty – overall score.
Results from this review process are given to both faculty and program chairs for their discussion and input. The review results are also tied to the matrix 1/ matrix 2 pay plan.

New courses and new faculty are evaluated twice each semester. The first evaluation takes place in the second or third week of the term. Results from the first review are passed on to the faculty and the program chair so that they can make any needed changes on the course in a timely manner. The final review takes place between the 12th and 14th weeks of the term.
Additionally most courses are evaluated on an annual basis by the program chair and the faculty. This process involves the use of the formal quality-review form found in the QA manual.

The Faculty Gold document fully explains the review process and how it is tied to the pay plan.

Return of Papers

Timely return of papers with adequate feedback to students is critical to their success in a class. CCCOnline recommends waiting no longer than 7 days to return papers and assignments to students.

Once classes end, students have access to the class for 7 additional days in order for them to collect papers and other assignments, and to review their final grade.

Rosters

Class rosters are available through Web for Faculty.
