Faculty Handbook

T

Teaching Resources

CCCOnline maintains extensive information about teaching resources in the Faculty Resources section of the CCCOnline web site.

Textbooks

Textbooks are chosen for each course as opposed to each section. Our agreement with the bookstore asks that we attempt to use a chosen textbook for a minimum of two years.

The process of changing textbooks is quite complex. If multiple faculty are teaching a course, textbook changes must be made as a group decision.
Instructor copies of textbooks are available through your program chair.

Training Policies and Requirements

New Faculty:

All new CCCOnline faculty are required to attend both Beginning and Intermediate WebCT (TRN 101 and 102) before beginning teaching. These workshops are offered in a variety of formats including online, hybrid, and face to face.

If you are currently teaching in WebCT and are comfortable in the software it is possible to be excused from TRN 102. Your program chair will ask that you arrange access to your current course so that s/he can assess your skill level.

Current Faculty:

CCCOnline offers a variety of courses for your continuing education, both in the technology of teaching (WebCT) and in the pedagogy of online learning. We recommend that you take a minimum of one additional training course each calendar year. These courses are offered in many formats including hybrid, online, single face to face workshops, and mini-conferences.

Program chairs frequently schedule short workshops on specific topics which they ask all of their faculty to attend.

Current Training Schedule:

We update the training schedule on a regular basis so please check back frequently. We also take requests from faculty regarding topics for future workshops. Email any workshop topic requests to Lisa.Cheney-Steen@cccs.edu
