Overview: Assessment activity provides the feedback that indicates what and how well learners have met the objectives of a given learning experience. Assessment feedback also is helpful in determining strategies to improve on the learning that has been demonstrated by the learner.

Course descriptions and competencies for CCCS courses are based on course guides in the Community College Course Numbering system: http://www.cccs.edu/cccns/Faculty.html. Analyzing or mapping course elements to the intended learning competency prompts instructors to consciously examine how learning activities and assessments support and measure the development of knowledge and skills. The sample below shows mapping for one course unit only, as opposed to the entire course.
