Virtual Speakers Bureau
Welcome to the CCCOnline Virtual Speaker Bureau
Guest experts can bring new knowledge/perspective/excitement to a class. When UNC Professor Ben Varner recently presented to CCCOnline Arts and Humanities Faculty about bringing guest discussants to online courses, attendees enthusiastically supported the suggestion to pioneer such an effort at CCCOnline with our own Virtual Speaker Bureau (VSB).
The CCCOnline Speaker Bureau now allows you to bring colleagues into courses as guest discussants. Or enhance another collegue's course with your visit.

This term a guest from Mexico and a guest from Spain will visit in both Chat and asynchronous discussions, based on learner feedback last term.
A storytelling expert from San Francisco State has visited CCCOnline composition classes to discuss how the elements of good jokes and stories translate to the written medium. Learners proceeded to draft their own narrative essays after the course discussion.
In yet another course, adult literacy and math specialists discussed techniques with adult basic and secondary educators.

How the CCCOnline VSB Works
To Become a Guest Discussant
Voluntary Applicants cut and paste information below into an email and send it to the Speaker Bureau Coordinator.
To Find and Invite a Guest Discussant from the Virtual Speaker BureauThe subjects are added to an alphabetized list of speaker subjects. A faculty who would like a guest speaker searches the list and contacts the speaker. The faculty prepares the class and writes the chair for guest access. With all in place, the guest speaker visits the class discussion.
