Teacher Certificate Requirements
15-16 Credit Hours
You must successfully complete at least five of these six courses - including either ECE 238 or PSY 238 - along with verified work experience to earn a Early Childhood(EC) Teacher Certificate and hold the position of EC Teacher in a licensed child care facility in the State of Colorado.

Upon successful completion of ECE 101 and ECE 102, you are eligible to receive a Level 1 Early Childhood Professional Credential. Visit the Colorado Office of Professional Development Web site for more information

| ECE 101 Introduction to Early Childhood Professions You will need access to children between the ages of birth and 8 for observation and class work. |

| ECE 102 Introduction to Early Childhood Professions Lab Techniques (Lab Course) You are required to do 60 hours of lab work with children between the ages of birth and 8. Access to a video camera and the ability to film yourself working with children in a classroom setting is required. |

| ECE 103 Guidance Strategies for Children You will need access to children between the ages of birth and 8 for observation and class work. |

| ECE 220 Curriculum Development: Methods and Techniques Recommended prerequisites for this course are: ECE 101, ECE 238 or PSY 238 and a basic English course. You also need regular access to children between the ages of birth and 8 for observation and class work. |

ECE 238 Child Growth and Development with Lab This is a lab class where interaction and observation with children is required. You will need regular access to children between the ages of birth and 8 years of age for observation and class work. |
