Early Childhood Education students should always talk to a Home College ECE advisor before making a certificate or degree plan. However, we recommend the following sequence of courses.
Taking your ECE courses online will save you the drive to campus, but the work required to succeed is the same as if you were in a classroom, face to face with the instructor and other students. Read the course descriptions and requirements carefully before you enroll. Some courses may require more time than others, so be sure you allow yourself the time to succeed. We recommend you take only one or two online ECE courses per semester.
Taking the 100-level courses first will give you a good foundation for the core courses and electives. After that, focus on the Infant-Toddler, Core and Administration courses.
Before enrolling in your core courses, you should take a basic composition course like ENG 121English Composition I. Contact the CCCOnline Advisor to find out if you need to take a placement test prior to taking ENG 121.
Finally, enjoy your electives! You should have some great experiences in those courses and begin to really appreciate why you chose a career in Early Childhood Education.
