The Library Technician Certificate and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree prepare students to work in a variety of library environments including school media centers, public libraries, and academic libraries.
Library Technicians work with Librarians to perform a variety of functions including circulation of materials, processing of materials, shelving materials, and providing assistance to patrons.
In a rural public library or a K-8 school media center, the Library
Technician is the person who runs the library and provides ordering,
processing, circulation, reference, and orientations for library
patrons. Students who want to transfer to a bachelor’s level
program should consult with an advisor to determine the transferability
of courses.
