The Mathematics program offered through CCCOnline includes the study of Preparatory Mathematics, General Mathematics, Finite Mathematics, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Survey of Calculus for Business and Social Sciences, Calculus, and Differential Equations. Through these studies the intention is to impart specific knowledge of the basics of mathematics, general knowledge related to mathematical topics, and to develop the powers of reason and judgment. The knowledge, understanding and perception that lead to critical and independent thought are fostered by the faculty and administration, and these qualities serve to enrich the lives and careers of its graduates. New Course for Spring Semester 2007 Beginning Jan. 22nd New for spring through CCCOnline is an accelerated developmental math offering. If you need both MAT 030 and MAT 060, it is possible to take both in one semester: Combined MAT 030 - MAT 060 course. Digital Textbook MAT 121 Course This course has a digital textbook integrated into the online course. This means there is no physical textbook required for the course. CCCOnline faculty and staff have worked with publishers to build state-of-the-art, highly interactive courses with the text materials available online. You will find your textbook content and other digital features right at your fingertips once you log-in to your WebCT course. Students registered for these courses will be assessed a materials charge, which is discounted at 35% off the publisher list price for the textbook. This charge will appear on your tuition bill. Assessment for Mathematics Classes Before registering for a math class, please click on the appropriate link below. It has information on the self assessments available if you are thinking about registering for one of the math courses listed below. In order to have a successful experience in your online math class, you must have the necessary background for the course. The placement Accuplacer® test and self-assessments are designed for your math success. Self Assessments Take the MAT 106 Survey of Algebra Self-Assessment. Accuplacer® math assessment information All Colorado community colleges require most students to take an Accuplacer® English and math assessment before registering. The purpose of the assessment is to identify which English or math course you should begin with to maximize your academic success. The Accuplacer® assessment is administered by computer and measures reading, writing/sentence skills, and algebra skills. The assessment is not timed, but generally takes about 2 hours to complete. Placement scores are valid for two years. You can arrange to take the Accuplacer® through the testing center at your Home College, or by arranging to take the test at another approved testing site. Those who purchase used texts or texts from other sources will have to also purchase the access codes from the publisher. Graphing Calculators The TI-83 Plus is recommended. MAT030 and MAT060 use a scientific calculator. In MAT090, a regular graphing calculator is recommended and Math courses starting with MAT106 require access to a graphing calculator. |
