More than 6.5 billion people inhabit the Earth, but they don't walk about randomly with no direction. Long ago, human beings organized themselves into different, smaller groups - nations, states or provinces, cities and towns, religions and ethnicities, political parties, and many, many other social groups.
Courses in the Social Sciences study all of those groups and related subjects:
- Physical and Cultural Anthropology courses examine the characteristics of humanity as a whole.
- Geography is the study of the earth - its physical features, the people who inhabit it, and events like weather and earthquakes.
- U.S. History, Colorado History and Western Civilization look back at how American culture came to be by examining both the historical events in our own state and nation, and the European cultures that migrated to our country.
- Political Science is the study of governments - the bodies that have the power and authority to enforce rules and laws.
CCCOnline offers classes in all of these Social Science disciplines that will fulfill your General Education Core requirements for your associate degree. Many of the classes also are guaranteed to transfer to any public four-year college or university in the state, should you decide to continue your education beyond the community college.
