What's Expected in Online Learning?
CCCOnline students are expected to participate in their online courses following procedures and timelines established by the instructor. These are NOT self-paced courses. Each course has a regular schedule of activities and assignments. While you do not have to be online at a set time, the online courses do require a lot of work on your part. Below are some of the things expected of you, as an online student, and some of the things you can expect of your online instructor.
What's Expected of Me: Your instructors and the staff at CCCOnline expect that you will do the following:
- be aware of the CCCOnline policies and procedures as listed in the Online Student Handbook
- be familiar with important dates in the Academic Calendar
- read correspondence from your instructors and from CCCOnline administrative and support staff, and respond to your instructor and other students in a courteous and professional manner
- have basic understanding of the Internet, computers and word processing software. You will be using these often throughout the semester (see technical requirements)
- participate in your class according to your instructor's schedule
- purchase all required books and materials (see bookstore page)
- pay for your course according to your home-college's payment requirements (see home colleges)
- inform your instructor of any accommodations you may need for learning- related or physical disabilities
What You Can Expect from Instructors: CCCOnline and your instructors will do the following:
- respond to your correspondence in a timely manner (usually within 24-28 hours)
- provide you with a means to contact us outside of your CCCOnline-delivered classroom, either through phone or e-mail
- provide links to technical assistance with WebCT (see technical support)
- communicate with you during the first week of class
- provide you with a final grade that will be posted to your student transcript
- provide regular feedback on assignments, quizzes and exams
- read correspondence from you and respond to you and other students in a courteous and professional manner
- provide learning assistance as possible through online tutorial programs
- provide you with regular updates on any changes in course schedules or to course web-site availability
- provide you with a learning environment where you can learn without fear of harassment or discrimination based on race, national origin, handicap, age, gender, sexual orientation, or any other grounds
- provide reasonable accommodations upon request for students with disabilities
