Important NOTES pertaining to this course
It is important that you view ALL notes pertaining to your course.Hello CIS1018 (formerly CIS118) students!
Please read the following notes carefully, as they contain very important information about your course. E-book:
Your textbook is available online within your CIS1018 course as an EBOOK from the Cengage website. When you registered, you paid a nonrefundable digital course materials fee that covered the cost of this ebook. An optional printed copy of the ebook is available from your home college bookstore. In order to view the e-book you will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader from www.adobe.com. The Ebook embedded in the course is: Carey, P., Oja, D. Parsons, J., Pinard, K., Shaffer, A., & Shellman, M. (2020). New perspectives: Microsoft Office 365 and Office 2019: Introductory. Boston, MA: Cengage Learning. D2L & SAM: Assignments in this course are in both Desire2Learn and SAM. See the schedule in the Content link to see what is due when. Ask your instructor if you need any clarifications. You must have a computer that can access and run the SAM activities to succeed in this course.
Check here: http://ng.cengage.com/static/browsercheck/index.html SAM: It is your responsibility to get into the SAM system as soon as possible once the class starts so that if there are any technical problems, you can contact the Help Desk (http://help.cccs.edu) and get the problem fixed immediately. Please note that if you have not successfully completed a SAM assignment by the drop date, you will need to consider if you should stay in the class or drop. Be aware that your school's computers may or may not be able to run SAM. If you plan to rely on your school's computers, check with the I.T. department. Your school's I.T. department is not required to install additional software for CCCOnline classes, though they might occasionally be willing. Again, it's your responsibility to secure a computer upon which to do your classwork in SAM. Office 2019 / 365: Microsoft Office 2019 including Access is required. Check in your school's registration portal for information about getting Office 365 (and thus 2019) for free for the semester. Or, Office 2019 can be purchased from your home college bookstore or from http://cccs.onthehub.com. Access is not available on OS X (the Apple Macintosh operating system). Therefore, you must download the Office 2019 applications for Windows only in order to have all required technology for this course. You cannot use Office on a Mac or Office on a tablet or phone for this course. Microsoft Access is required and is only available for Windows. Office 2019 is not able to be used for this course. Check the schedule available in the Content link in Desire2Learn to see what is due when and in which system (D2L or SAM).
Thank you very much for your attention. If you have questions, please feel free to email me at kathleen.hagerty@cccs.edu.
We hope you have a very successful semester!
Sincerely,
Kathleen Hagerty, Program Chair CCCOnline
