Dear CCCOnline ART1110 (previous ART110) Student
Please note the following information for your class: Visiting an art museum or gallery in person is part of a required assignment in this course, within the start and end dates of the semester. Note that this may involve travel and an admission fee (although there may be opportunities for free admission). The assignment focuses on your experience in the museum or gallery and will ask you to analyze a work of art or artifact from the experience and describe the visual qualities of a work of art that you particularly respond to. You may visit more than one gallery or museum if you choose. If there is not a gallery or museum in your area, you might, instead, write about local public art in your area, such as sculpture. Many galleries are open on Friday nights and welcome students.
Although it is always preferable to visit a location in person, if you are unable to do so, or if public health guidelines prevent this at particular times, an alternative will be available. Please direct any questions about suitable places or other aspects of the assignment to the instructor of your class after it opens and you are able to read the instructions.
